Zusi is a railway simulation for Microsoft Windows developed by engineer Carsten
Hölscher. Contrary to many other Eisenbahnsimulationen, which are developed and driven out by larger software companies, Zusi puts less value to the dynamic characteristics of traction vehicles and courses and on a high-detailed diagram, but it is focused on the authentic simulation of signal and security systems.
Like initially mentioned the main strength lies in the detail accuracy and model loyalty of physics and signal simulation. Routes, which can be provided with one in the Zusi package contained editor also, consist of complete route networks, which will be driven on at the same time of several courses can. There is a complex algorithm, which takes over the role of the driving service leader on the basis of timetables of each course, regulates the course enterprise. Here the courses affect each other mutually, so that delays and delays can affect the entire route network.
Also the signal and security systems (main in Germany common signals) are model-faithfully simulated. Thus security systems are to the virtual traction vehicle leader such as SIFA, PZB/INDUSI or LZB at the disposal.
A further characteristic of Zusi lies in the fact that the program is continuously developed further, whereby also suggestions of the users flow into the development. Registered users of the program can download these updates free of charge.
The diagram of the scenery is limited on no texture polygonal traverse drafts. The cockpits of the vehicles are very realistically represented by photo backgrounds, mobile levers and warning lights. At present the version 3 in the development will support itself objects also textured and will thus correspond to the current diagram standard.
Different editors apart from the actual simulator routine, that make a providing possible of own route networks, scene objects and vehicles, are contained in the program complex. Since these editors are developed like professional CAD/CAE software, training period is necessary contrary to the editors with products such as Trainz some.
The variety of the route networks available for Zusi (of those many model-faithful distances in Europe copy) and AddOns such as roll material or supplementary product lines to the distance Design is made possible by a large fan club of Zusi. Beside one take place also regularly user meetings at the most diverse places move exchange of experience in Internet forums.
